Privacy

This reader survey collects chapter persuasiveness ratings and optional comments. Ratings contribute to public averages, counts, and score distributions. Comments and any name you provide are public.

Your browser identity

A random first-party cookie lets you revise a rating and edit or delete your comments in the same browser. The database stores a hash of this identifier. It does not verify a unique person. Clearing cookies or changing browsers or devices removes access to previous submissions.

The theme preference is saved in your browser’s local storage. No advertising analytics or demographic questions are used.

Comments and reports

You may use a nickname or leave the name blank. Names are not verified. Avoid including personal or sensitive information. Reports are private to the administrator. Moderators may hide comments; hidden comments remain available for review. Deleting your own comment removes its text and name from the active database. Copies made in manual database backups may retain earlier content until those backups are deleted.

Hosting and spam prevention

The site runs on an Ubuntu VPS hosted by GoDaddy and stores responses in SQLite. Administrator sign-in and spam protection run within this application. The hosting provider processes network information to serve the site. Submission limits use a short-lived salted hash of network addresses; the application database does not store raw IP addresses. Operational Nginx logs may contain IP addresses and request metadata.

Ratings and comments are retained for the book’s survey. Administrator accounts store email addresses, password hashes, and expiring session hashes; passwords and session credentials are excluded from response exports. Administrative exports contain scores, comment text, names, and timestamps, without browser ownership credentials.
